The Design Application track

Another track, the Design Software track, teaches students how to use free open-source (with one exception) software to create and edit different media or to create websites. This track, the Design Application track, however, focuses not on the use of software but instead on the skills needed to create high-quality media in the first place. It answers the question, "So you know how to use the software — but do you know how to use it wisely?"

This track includes eight modules, which are listed below. Three of the modules are required for completion of the Basic Church Webmaster Certificate. They include modules on digital photography; creating vector-based art such as logos, graphics, and illustrations for uses such as announcements for ministry events; and audio basics.

Five other modules, covering advanced subjects, are required of students in the Advanced Certificate program. They include two modules on motion graphics, digital video, 3-D graphics, and game design.

Status report

As of August 2008, the courses for this school are not developed yet. Doing so requires many tens of thousands of dollars to be raised first.

Therefore, the purposes of this website in its current state are threefold:

1. To get volunteer church and parish webmasters interested in the school.

2. To obtain input from experienced church and parish webmasters regarding the courses to be offered by the school.

3. To provide information about the school to potential financial donors. This is part of my goal to raise money to launch the school.

If you're interested in helping to make the school a reality, please email me using the "Contact us" link below.

We will need money (donations), people who'll be paid to create the courses, and individuals to serve on an advisory board.
